While most of us spent our Sunday nursing hangovers and watching Netflix, Ariana Grande took the time to share an empowering feminist message with her fans.In a long note posted on Twitter, Grande responded to the backlash to saying she isn't Big Sean's ex. "I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man's past, present or future PROPERTY/POSSESION," the 21-year-old pop star wrote. "I... do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you."
"I know y'all already know this but the double standard and misogyny are still ever present," she continued.
Grande discussed coming from a long line of female activists and quoted the feminist icon Gloria Steinem: "Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke.. She will need her sisterhood."
"y'all being the 'sisterhood' mentioned at the end..... love u," Grande added in a separate tweet.
