Infant and Two Adults Killed In House Fire

Two adults and a young child have died after a blaze in a car apparently spread to a neighbouring house.A man, woman and female "infant" died in the fire on North Street, Langley Mill, Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to a report of a car fire at 3.59am on Sunday before receiving another call to a house fire two minutes later.
Police and firefighters said they are currently treating the blaze as 'unexplained.'
Two people in the house were able to escape, along with three others from adjacent flats.
A fire service statement said: "Tragically one male, one female and a female infant were unable to escape the fire and have been pronounced dead at the scene.
"Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the family and friends of the deceased."
Police evacuated several neighbouring properties after the blaze caused a gas leak.
An area around the home has been cleared and police said they understand engineers are working to fix the leak.
Derbyshire police said they were called to the property at 4.04am on Sunday.
A statement from the force said: "Investigating officers say they are keeping an open mind as to the cause of the fire and have not ruled anything out at this early stage in the inquiry.
"Police are not in a position to give any further details of those who died in the fire as they are still tracing family members."
The force appealed for information. It said it understands that engineers are attempting to fix the gas leak.
Neighbours used ladders to try to help those stuck inside the house before emergency services arrived.
One man, who did not wish to be named, told the Derby Telegraph: "There were about 20 of us fetching ladders to reach the floors and we managed to get some people out."
Four fire engines were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
John Dunkley, a watch manager with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, said on Twitter: "Terrible night shift. Thoughts with all personnel from all emergency services involved at Langley Mill this morning."
The fire service statement added: "Firefighters, community safety officers and volunteers will be working in the local community over the coming days to provide reassurance and offer fire safety advice. "
