Taylor Swift, master of building relationships with her fans, recently made a massive donation that's sure to change one young girl's life.Naomi Oakes, an 11-year-old Swift fan, found out back in June that she had leukemia. But instead of letting it take over, she was determined to fight it, using Swift's "Bad Blood" as her theme song.
Oakes' family posted the video on July 5, explaining that because of her intensive treatment, which could last from six to nine months, Naomi wouldn't be able to attend Swift's concert in Pheonix, Arizona on August 18. The video urged fellow fans to share Naomi's journey in hopes of getting a #TeamNaomi message from the multi-platinum artist herself.
But of course, the "Shake It Off" singer went well beyond sharing a hashtag, and donated $50,000 to a GoFundMe page set up by Naomi's uncle -- an amount that surpassed the family's initial goal. The page was created to raise funds for the young girl's cancer treatment. The 25-year-old star, who announced earlier this year her mom was battling cancer, left a touching message along with her generous donation: "To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I'm sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let's focus on getting you feeling better. I'm sending the biggest hugs to you and your family."Upon hearing the good news, Naomi was naturally overwhelmed and excited. Her uncleposted her priceless reaction on YouTube Tuesday.
"I can hardly breathe," a smiling Naomi said. "I seriously think I'm going to pass out right now."
