Akwa Ibom’s First Lady Launches Pet-Project 'FEYReP'


The wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel has expressed her readiness to ensure that no family in the state is left behind in the fight to overcoming poverty. She made this assurance during the inauguration of her pet project, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Programme (FEYReP), where she advocated for citizens consciousness to productivity as a practical approach to overcoming poverty.
The governor's wife advised beneficiaries of FEYReP's benevolence to make judicious utilization of what she described as start-up seeds, as such would be in the best interest of the families they represent and the state at large.
Among the items donated by the governor's wife were hairdressing, barbing and tailoring equipments. Other items included generator sets and disability aids like wheel chairs to physically challenged people as well as business start-up capitals and financial support to multiple birth families.
The event which was preceded by road shows and media chats, brought youths and women from across the state who converged at Ibom Hall Grounds, in furtherance of the Governor’s wife commitment to boosting micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, as part of government's industrialization and wealth creation agenda of the state government.
In her speech, the Chairman on the occasion, Dorothy Ufot (SAN), commended the first lady's resolve at expanding the frontiers of prosperous families and building a lasting and enduring future for youths in the state, while calling for more support to enable her do more.
Highlighting on the five pillars of FEYReP , the company Secretary of MTN, Mrs. Mkpouto Ukpanah, lauded the first lady's vision of creating a platform to showcase successful families, empowering women to provide emotional support to their families, advocacy against teenage pregnancy, promoting moral values and economic excellence in youths as well as support government efforts towards sustainable development. Mrs. Udom sued for co-operation and support from all over the state and thanked her husband, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, immediate past First lady, Mrs Unoma Akpabio and Former Deputy Governor, Lady Valerie Ebe.
