Police Nabbed 4 Suspected Gunmen in FCT

Officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the FCT Police Command, Monday, arrested four suspected gunmen allegedly attempting to kidnap a butcher near Lugbe, Abuja.An eyewitness said the incident happened at about 9:12 p.m.when a butcher, Muri Amuda, was returning to his house from a restaurant.
The witness said the victim was trekking to his house when four men inside an unmarked Volkswagen Golf vehicle tried forcing him into the vehicle at gun point.
The witness said that in the process, one of the men shot into the air, adding: “While the struggle lasted, the shooting attracted police officers to the scene. The police arrested the men before they could escape.”
The FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, has confirmed the arrest, saying: “My men were able to recover a green Golf 3 car, which they used in attempting to kidnap the man, 2 pump action guns, 2 cutlasses and a pair of plate number.”
He said the suspects were with the state’s criminal investigation department where investigation was ongoing.
