The opposition candidate in Argentina's presidential election has won - ending the ruling party's 12 years in power.
Mauricio Macri, the conservative challenger, gained a considerable lead over Daniel Scioli, who was representing the Peronist Party.
"This is the beginning of a new era that has to carry us toward the opportunities we need to grow and progress," the new president-elect told his supporters at celebrations in Buenos Aires.
The 56-year-old - who had a comfortable lead in opinion polls in the run-up to the ballot - has vowed to attract investment into Argentina's stalling economy, fight corruption, and bring down crime levels.
