Multiple Accidents Claims 3 Lives in Delta

THREE persons have been confirmed dead in multiple accidents, which occurred late Saturday at the Asaba axis of the Benin-Onitsha expressway.Eight others persons sustained injuries in the crash, which involved five vehicles, including one truck, two tippers and two commercial buses.
Delta State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Rindom Kumven, who confirmed the accident, said corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), while the injured received treatment.
Kumven attributed the accident to dangerous driving and over speeding on the part of the driver of the truck.
He said the ill-fated truck was coming from Onitsha end and struggled for space with a tipper, adding that in the process, the truck crashed against the pillars serving as road divider in the dual carriage way.
Kumven stated that as a result of the crash against the pillars, the truck lost control and further crashed into an oncoming commercial bus and two other vehicles.
He said 25 passengers were involved, out of which 11 casualties were recorded.
