Nike Ends Endorsement Deal With Manny Pacquiao After Gay 'Animals' Slur

Nike has cancelled its sponsorship deal with boxer Manny Pacquiao after he described gay couples as "worse than animals".It follows an online petition urging the sportswear giant to ditch the Filipino fighter.
Pacquiao, an eight-time champion, made the comments during his campaign for a seat on the country's senate.
He told local broadcaster TV5: "It's common sense.
"Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female.
"If men mate with men and women mate with women, they are worse than animals."
"We find Manny Pacquiao's comments abhorrent," a Nike statement said.
"Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community.
"We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao, which is accurate."
