Several Killed In German Train Crash

Four people are dead and 15 severely injuredfollowing a collision between two trains in Germany's southern state of Bavaria, a police spokeswoman says.Forty were seriously injured, South Bavarian police spokeswoman Barbara Straffberger told CNN. Altogether, between 100-150 people sustained injuries in the collision, she said.

The trains collided head-on near the spa town of Bad Aibling, about 60km (37 miles) southeast of the Bavarian capital Munich, between the towns of Holzkirchen and Rosenheim.
The crash took place at 6.48 a.m. local time (12.48 a.m. ET).
Helicopters were used to ferry rescue workers to the crash scene, where they worked to free people trapped in the wreckage.

German Justice Minister Heiko Maas tweeted his sympathies for those affected, writing in German: "Very bad news from #badaibling. Our thoughts are with the victims and injured. Thanks to the rescue workers."
