Governor of Ghana’s Central Bank Retires

The Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr Henry Wampah, is taking an early retirement, an official statement from the central bank said on Wednesday.The statement said that Wampah would leave the bank on 1 April. It said that the information was for the financial sector and the general public in view of his long outstanding leave days. “Wampah is taking an early retirement from the Bank with effect from April 1, 2016 ahead of the end of his tenure which falls on August 5, 2016,” the statement said. The statement said that Wampah would want to be remembered for the major reforms he initiated at the central bank that had resulted in the stability of the financial sector.
