Following a stunning season in Belgium, the 19-year-old striker has caught the attention of Gunners manager Arsene WengerThe 19-year-old had a breakthrough campaign in the Belgian top-flight in 2016-17, scoring 24 goals in all competitions for Eupen.
His exploits have led to interest from around Europe, but it appears the Gunners are set to win the race for his services by triggering a £6.8 million buy-out clause.
"It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games," Onyekuru told the Nigerian Football Federation.
Onyekuru's attraction to the Gunners is partly fuelled by his desire to follow in the footsteps of one of his footballing idols.
"Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid," Onyekuru said.
