There are some days when everything just seems to be falling on you, giving you barely enough time to breathe.
Such days can be really frustrating and could affect everything you set your mind on doing if you don't know how to ease off the mounting pressure, because you are caught up in your problems and can't see things from another perspective.
This type of pressure is bad and unless you calm down, you could drive yourself to failure.
Below are 7 calming things to do hen under serious pressure:
- Take a deep breath: When we experience failure, anger or even when we feel disappointment, we lose touch with our breathing. So taking a deep breath, when you feel like you have no control over your life, is one of the best calming #things to do. Taking deep and slow breaths clears your mind and brings back the focus you need. Additionally, it lowers the heart rate, making you feel more at ease within minutes. If taking deep breaths is difficult for you, you could close your #eyes to help stabilize your breath. Also, cutting out all noise, such as the television or music, allows you to listen to your breathing carefully.
- Step outside: Sometimes a breath of fresh air is all you need to calm down and stop panicking. Step outside and #look around you at the trees, birds, flowers or even architecture, if that works for you. If you’re stressed about a project that failed at work, going outside for just a few minutes will allow you to clear your mind and reflect on the situation. This is crucial in order to move forward with whatever it is that you have going on. By going outside, you will discover you have a solution for the problem within no #time.
- Exercise: Sweating it out at the gym may not seem like a calming thing to do at all when #everything seems to fail, but it’s a great way to release tension from the body and mind. When we’re stressed, we not only feel knots in our head, but also in our shoulders and back. Therefore, stretching it out is one of the best #things to do in those situations. After a good workout, you will feel lighter, more relaxed and sometimes exercising can give you new ideas and solutions.
- Drink herbal tea: As a passionate tea-lover, I like to think of tea as the solution to every problem. When you experience failure, make yourself a big pot of herbal tea, sit down and focus on drinking tea only. Hold your cup with both hands, smell the herbs and take a sip, tasting every single herb. Herbs like lavender, ginseng and mint are not only a great taste to tea, but they also help to relax your mind when you experience stress or anxiety. By enjoying a cup of tea, you will nurture the #mind with new energy.
- Tune out: Lie flat on your back on the floor, couch or bed, close your #eyes and listen to your favorite music. Ideally, you’ll listen to music that will lift your mood, so it might be best to avoid any #song with depressing lyrics; however, listening to any of your favorite music should help you relax instantly. You will sometimes find that you tend to fall asleep when lying down and listening to music. This is OK, because when #everything else seems to fail, taking a nap can be the most calming thing to do.
- Distract yourself: If you have put a lot of effort into something, whether it’s work or a #relationship, you will most likely feel disappointment, anger, but also sadness when it fails. Although you might want to fix #things immediately, the chances of you having a clear mind and a healthy perspective are small. So why not distract yourself with something that is totally different? Watch a movie, play a game on your phone or simply call up some friends and ask if they want to go out for a drink. Taking a break from the situation is very important, especially if you feel stress.
- Play with your pet: If you have a pet, you've probably figured out by now that spending #time with him or her is the ultimate way to release tension. If you have a dog, go out for a walk and play, but any pet can really lift your mood and make you take a break from a difficult situation in life. Cuddling with pets is shown to be healthy for humans, and dogs especially can show their love to us in so many ways. Some pets may do silly tricks, making us laugh, and playing around with them will not only make you happier, but also your pet.
