Texas Teacher Beaten To Death With a Hammer In Nepal

A local teacher confesses to killing Dahlia Yehia with a hammer and a metal baton after she traveled to help earthquake victims.Authorities are searching a river in Nepal for the body of a Texas teacher who was allegedly beaten to death with a hammer.
Dahlia Yehia, 27, from Austin, disappeared from the resort town of Pokhara last month, according to police.
A local teacher, Narayan Paudel, who was hosting Ms Yehia while she was in the town to help victims of April's devastating earthquake, has been arrested over her killing.
Police official Hari Bahadur Pal said Paudel has confessed to bludgeoning his victim to death with a hammer and throwing her body into the Seti River.
The Himalayan Times reported that Ms Yehia was attacked with a hammer and a lathi - a metal baton - as she slept in her rented room.
He said officers have found blood-soaked clothing and ropes thought to have been used to tie the American's body.
Ms Yehia had arrived in Nepal in July and reached Pokhara on 4 August. She is said to have been killed three days later, Mr Pal added.
Paudel was arrested on 2 September and confessed the following day, he said. Authorities have said they plan to seek the maximum sentence of life in prison.
He is alleged to have taken money from Ms Yehia.
The Himalayan Times reported that Paudel has broken his leg after apparently jumping off the roof of a police station.
Nearly 9,000 people were killed and hundreds of thousands of homes in Nepal were damaged after the magnitude 7.9 quake struck on 25 April.
Individuals and aid groups rushed to help the victims of the disaster.
