An argument over a stained pair of slippers led to a man being stabbed to death last night.Sahral Asmara, a 56-year-old labourer, had been embroiled in an argument with his neighbour, a 42-year-old Indonesian man with permanent resident status, at a squatter area in Jalan Kebun Teh Lama at 7.50pm.
It was believed that the two had argued over who was at fault for the Indonesian man’s slippers being stained with dog faeces.
The argument became heated and Sahral was subsequently stabbed in the waist.
Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said neighbours heard Sahral scream for help. Upon arriving at the scene, they found an eight-inch long knife buried in Sahral’s right waist.
Sahral was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital but succumbed to his injury.
Sulaiman said police are now hunting the suspect, who fled after the incident.
He said a post-mortem examination would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
The case has been classified as murder.
